Help Chey beat Hodgkins Lymphoma

Donation protected
Cheyenne is 25 years old and was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma on November 26th 2014. She began having symptoms as early as July, but it took until November to get a definite diagnosis. By that time, her cancer had spread to stage II and treatment, in this case an intense regiment of chemotherapy, needed to begin immediately.

She had plans to continue to work as much as possible during treatment but her place of employment made the decision to close their doors at the end of January, effectively forcing her out of work and cutting the family income from two – which we, like many, need to survive – to one. As an oilfield family, the timing couldn’t have been worse – break up (oilfield shutdowns) are looming and as everyone knows, the bills keep coming.

To make matters worse, when we bought our house and vehicles, our insurance options weren’t properly explained to us – we were told that Cheyenne wouldn’t need disability insurance because she didn’t work a physically demanding job, so she didn’t add her name to it. Turns out, cancer is considered a disability, and she is left with no options in terms of coverage.

Cheyenne will be receiving treatment until at least June, and as everyone knows, a medical situation such as this is stressful enough without wondering how you’re going to pay your bills. It would be nice if Evan was able to take the occasional day off for treatments or doctor’s appointments, but as it stands right now he’s working every single day just to make ends meet and we’re still coming up short.
