Moo Was Shot and Left to Die

Dear friends:

This is our cat, Moo. He's 13 years old and he's smelly and wonderful and sweet. On Friday, Feb 27, 2015, he was cruelly shot by a neighbor with a bow and arrow, and then chased into a culvert full of icy water.


The man who shot him trapped him in there with rocks and left him to die. Not knowing what had happened, I searched for him, over and over, and couldn't find him. I'd almost given up hope when he finally got free and crawled home. 

He had been immersed in frigid water for hours, trapped, hypothermic, and wounded, with an arrow lodged in his shoulder, but he fought his way out. He has a powerful and mighty will, and he fought like a tiger to get back home. We want to fight for him. 

He was rushed to the nearest emergency animal hospital, and he has been there since this terrible Friday. He's alert and his body is fighting hard to recover, but he needs special help, due to the nature of his wounds, in order to be restored. (The arrow entered at his shoulder, with the point exiting above his rib cage.)

For the first time in his 13 years, he's deeply sad and afraid. If you're on hard times like we are, money is not required. Give us your prayers instead. 

Moo has been one of the very few things that my sister and I wake up for. We're both disabled by a genetic pain disorder, and are caretaking our mentally ill elderly mother who cannot live alone. Moo has been a lifesaver for us. A light has gone out in the house without him here.

He sleeps almost every night by Jennifer's pillows. He greets us by touching noses.  He likes to stretch out like Superman and have his fuzzy armpits scratched. He loves getting kisses on his face.

Note: The perpetrator was arrested for his crime. We couldn't allow him to harm another animal that way unimpeded.
