On March 15, 2015, the Founder and President of The Belize Cancer Society Of California, Ms. Arlette Pilgrim will undertake the awesome challenge of walking in the 2015 LA Marathon.
She will be walking the 26.2 miles on behalf of Belize's cancer sufferers and hardship of the less fortunate Belizeans back home.
The reasons why Ms. Pilgrim is undertaking a grueling task that only a few brave at heart would attempt are as follows:
*To draw awareness to the plight of poor cancer patients in Belize.
*To raise funds to assist those in Belize who can't afford to pay for treatment.
*To undertake a gruesome challenge that is symbolic of fighting and overcoming cancer, a sickness that was once considered incurable and
*Personal growth
Education, awareness, and prevention are the mantras of The Belize Cancer Society Of California. We strive to educate not only cancer patients but the general public as well, and teach awareness on how vital the early detection and treatment of cancer are to surviving it.
Belize Cancer Society Of California is a Certified California Non-profit organization with 501(c)3 accreditation from the IRS. All contributions made to BCSC are tax deductible and will go directly through the Dangriga Cancer Center to help pay for cancer related expenses for patients nationwide who cannot afford the treatment.
It takes strenuous training to prepare for a marathon. It also means drastic change of lifestyle, both of which are symbolic to the awesome battle of fighting and overcoming cancer.
We invite you to be out there on March 15, not to walk the marathon, but to encourage Ms. Pilgrim along her way and show your support to her dedicated efforts.
