As a recent graduate with my bachelors degree in sociology, I was excited to start my career search and begin a new chapter of my life. I thought I had it all planned out, but I soon realized that none of the fields I was applying to motivated me want to get out of bed in the morning. That's when I decided to take the leap and follow my dreams.
I applied to a program to earn my TEFL certification (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) and was accepted into a great academy. Not only do I need to complete a minimum of 120 hours of in class training, I am also responsible for a teaching practicum of 20 hours in an ESL (English as a Second Language) classroom. After being accepted, I enrolled and began the program right away.
I could not be happier with my decision to become an English teacher abroad where I can really make a global impact. Right after graduating college, thinking I was finished with school for quite a while, I decided that nothing would benefit or enrich me more than the experience of a lifetime to travel and teach. Now I need your help to get myself out there. Although it will be fun and exciting, my certification course and earning the money to get there has not been easy.
The program does not cover my airfare or housing abroad, which is why my goal is $5,000. This amount covers my flight(s), the remainder of my class tuition, and the cost of a deposit for an apartment. The money I am able to save in the mean time will be my emergency money and a little spending money for when I get there. I've been working hard between two jobs and taking this class in order to achieve my goal.
