Nick's Kirtan Trip to Scotland

What's a Bard?
Hi, I’m Nicholas "The Bard" Andrea. I was so named last year after a woman, who didn’t know me, had a vision of the music and poetry I was performing around town. Saying it was like, “a Bard,” the title felt fitting for my work, so, I adopted it.

As a modern bard, I write and perform sacred music and poetry to spread the truth of love around the world. I also inspire young minds through educating them about how to BE music, and so flow in harmony with the Cosmos.

As I learn more about this mission that has seemingly chosen me, opportunities continue appearing, as if some leprechaun has been sprinkling the path with magic dust. This eventually led to the invitation to take my craft to Scotland, land of the bards. Who knew!!

In the ensemble, I will play djembe (West African hand drum) and dijeridoo. The group will be led my Macushla (info below), and accompanied by Jenece Gerber, a world class vocalist and composer. We will be joined by an array of traditional Celtic musicians once in Edinburgh. And then, on an international stage, at the largest arts festival in the world (Edinburgh Fringe Fest ), we will sing songs of peace with and for a global audience. We will bring a message that, perhaps, only music can convey.

Dreams are the air that lift angel wings to Heaven, and this respresents the next step on the journey of mine. And, I do it for you as much as for me, because when one person says "yes" to what they love, it gives others permission to do the same. Happy people want to see other people happy. It's contagious. Imagine a world where the common folk are so full of joy and energy because they believe, because they feel, that there is something in the universe that cares infinitely about them. That is what I stand for.

I need to raise $2200 by June 18 to get there. If you believe in this dream, please support it. All it takes is one lit candle to illuminate a room full of darkness. God bless you, and may you have everything you most deeply yearn for.

What is Celtic Kirtan?
I consider Macushla to be a real-life modern bard. To play with him is such an honor. Thus begins my official formal training!

A Bit on Synchronicity
“We’re all here to do what we’re all here to do,” said the Oracle to Neo in the movie, The Matrix. Every time we say "yes" to the bliss within us, miracles and synchronicities follow in the wake of that choice. The morning after I was invited to play in Scotland, I walked downstairs to a chilly morning and the 10-year old boy I live with, who wasn’t wearing a shirt. I wondered at that because of the temperature, but then went upstairs to get something. When I returned he had fully clothed himself and his shirt read, “Scotland Forever.” Hahaha.

The next day, I called my mentor to tell him the good news on my way back from work. A white car pulled out in front of me with a license plate that read, “Ananda.” (Ananda means “bliss” in Sanskrit). A few inches below the plate was a Scottish Griffin Flag (the red dragon) bumper sticker. “Phew,” I wondered. A few minutes thereafter I saw a pickup truck with a net on the back of its bed that read, “Highland.” Yikes!

Finally, that night I got home and had received a package in the mail. It was a new case for my cell phone. I took it out of the packing and on the bottom of the box was the word, “Griffin.” Phew!

Ok, intuition, I hear you.

This sort of thing is not uncharacteristic of my experience. In fact, I have journals full of notes on this phenomenon, and I run a biweekly community group where we explore it. It’s been a journey of discovery, and I now believe Synchronicity occurs when we are following our destiny. It’s like a sign from the universe saying, “You got it, kid! Keep walking.” So, I just keep walking, and my next stop is Scotland.
