We are a 100% volunteer fire department that provides fire protection to the township of North Brunswick, NJ. Our workforce includes three fire companies, each with over 50 volunteers. These volunteers are your friends, neighbors, and loved ones.
On July 22nd, 2015 at 1:53am, the North Brunswick Fire Department responded to 1600 Livingston Avenue for a reported fire alarm activation. The first arriving engine was faced with heavy fire conditions upon arrival. Due to the strong winds, the fire spread all throughout the 1 million+ sq. ft. warehouse. An entire apartment complex behind the warehouse had to be evacuated due to heavy fire conditions. In total, 157 fire departments, 237 pieces of apparatus, and 960 firefighters were called in from New Jersey and Pennsylvania to assist us in extinguishing this five day long conflagration. There were many reports that the smoke plume from this blaze could be seen from the Empire State Building, Atlantic City, and even the International Space Station.
As a fire department, all of our pieces of apparatus (engines, trucks, utility vehicles, chief's cars, etc.) were damaged during this fire. The amount of smoke, heat, and chemicals that were emitted from the warehouse not only physically damaged our fire trucks, but also our hose, gear, and other firefighting equipment. Insurance will cover a portion of the damages but we need your help recovering.
As an independent volunteer fire department, we do not rely on tax revenue, but solely on your donations. Any and all donations will be greatly appreciated. We thank you for your support!
