High School Katrina Cottage Project
At North Baldwin Center for Technology, we believe that creating and immersing students in an educational environment that closely approximates workforce conditions will increase learning and retention of academic and technical knowledge. Through the Katrina Cottage Project, students will develop those employability skills needed for success through immersion in a stimulated work environment. To create the desired environment, we are seeking funds to build a small, but fully habitable, residence on campus. The blueprints for the Katrina Cottage were designed and donated by Marianne Cusato of New Orleans, La.
Our project is a collaborative effort between the Construction Building Program, HVACR Program, Graphic Design and Marketing programs. Our intention is to sell the finished Katrina Cottage and use the proceeds from the sale to fund future building projects. Students that are involved in the project over the course of a year will develop into graduates that are career and college ready.
