Bienvenidos a mi página de gofundme. Mi nombre es Natalia Vargas. Me estoy preparando para ser cantante y compositora y soy de Los Angeles, California.

Cuando tenía 8 años conocí la música de Edith Piaf, lo que marcó el comienzo de mi amor eterno con la música. Me aceptaron en la New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music de Nueva York cuando tenía 17 años. Pero la falta de dinero me impidió inscribirme. Entonces me inscribí en el programa de Bellas Artes del Colegio Citrus de Glendora, California. Ahí canté con la orquestra "Blue Note Orchestra," además de formar parte del grupo de pop. Estudié voz, improvisación de jazz, y logré hacer buenas relaciones con otros estudiantes de música. Con las buenas relaciones que pude conseguir, comencé a cantar con un groupo de jazz en restaurantes, bares de hoteles, bodas, y otros eventos.

Más tarde me inscribí en el Colegio Comunitario de Los Angeles para estudiar antropología y estudios chicanos. Además de cantar tengo dos empleos de medio tiempo, uno es como intérprete-traductora en español en educación especial y otro como maestra sustituta. Estas experiencias me han permitido aprender y madurar como persona. Sensibilizada por estas oportunidades maravillosas, quiero devolverle algo a mi comunidad a través de mi compromiso en mis lugares de trabajo.

Luego de vivir las emociones de los demás y cuánto gozo nos provoca, estoy segura que cantar es para lo que he nacido. Tras cuatro años de cantar, ahora tengo la oportunidad de estudiar en la universidad de Berklee en Boston a partir de enero del 2016. Ahora mismo mi obstáculo más grande es cubrir la colegiatura, pues a pesar de mis dos empleos, el dinero no me alcanza. Yo creo en mí. Mi familia cree en mí. Mis amigos creen en mí. Estoy muy agradecida por el continuo apoyo que me muestran. Ahora les pido su ayuda. Por favor ayúdenme a pagar mi primer semestre en Berklee. Gracias por su generosidad. Dios los bendiga.

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

Welcome to my gofundmepage! My name is Natalia Vargas. I am an aspiring vocalist/songwriter from Los Angeles, CA.

At age 8 I was introduced to Edith Piaf and that marked the beginning of my eternal love affair with music. I was accepted at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York City when I was 17. Unable to attend due to lack of funds, I decided to enroll at the fine and performing arts program at Citrus College in Glendora, CA. There I sang in the Blue Note Orchestra and performed in a pop ensemble. I prepared myself by studying voice, jazz improvisation, and networking with fellow music students. With the strong network I built, I began singing with a live jazz combo at restaurants, hotel lounges, weddings, and other events.

I later enrolled at Los Angeles City College to study Anthropology and Chicano Studies. Apart from singing, I have two part time jobs which include interpreting (Spanish) for Special Education and substituting at school districts for translations and clerical work. These experiences have allowed me to learn and grow as an individual. Humbled by these wonderful opportunities, I like to give back to my community by showing involvement in my workplace.

Experiencing the reactions of others and how much joy it brings to us both, I am certain that singing is what I am meant to do. After these four years of gigging and experience, I now have the opportunity to attend Berklee College of Music beginning January, 2016. At the moment, my greatest hardship is paying for college despite my two part time jobs. I believe in me. My family believes in me. My friends believe in me. I am so grateful for the support they continue to show me. Now I am asking for your support. Please help fund my first semester at Berklee. Thank you for any and all gifts and donations.
