Earthbenders & Artisans is more than just a place for pottery. It is an accessible and approachable community resource where social boundaries fade away, and everyone feels welcome, relaxed, and comfortable. From toddlers to seniors, and everyone in between, all skill levels can participate in making lasting memories with clay.

We provide the public with the pottery experience; the chance to express themselves both symbolically and emotionally through the hands on connection and creation with clay.  This kinesthetic activity, often used in therapy, "involves the discovery of new connections, relationships and meanings in a safe and non-judgmental atmosphere, which in turn provides... alternative perspectives on life and relationships with others. Thus, art therapy can work in multifaceted ways involving the whole person including sensory-motor, perceptual, cognitive, emotional, physical, social and spiritual aspects. Growth through art is seen as a sign of growth through the whole person." (Karkou V, Sanderson P. 2006. Arts therapies: A research-based map of the field. Edinburgh: Elsevier Churchill Livingstone.).

In our short year of business, we have introduced clay to hundreds. We have helped Brownies and Girl Scouts in getting their pottery badges, as well as providing an art resource for educational programs such as private schools and home school groups. It has been a delight to assist developmentally disabled adults in enjoying new sensory experiences.  As a community activity, for the city's Children's Art Walk in May of 2014, we secretly hid small figurines around town made by random Hamsters with donated clay, and set the children out to find the hidden "treasures".

Earthbenders actively supports cottage industries, providing local artists with the means to market their works, both within our studio and in freelance work, contributing to our growing economy.

We have set a pricing structure that is accessible for anyone, from the student, to the senior citizens living on a fixed income.

Donations will go to securing a new facility to continue our work of bringing the pottery experience to one and all, and will sponser programs for veterans, low-income youth and at-risk youth.  We will also be able to increase staff for optimal assistance, and provide more and better equipment for people to work with.

Donations will be rewarded, and every little bit helps, so even if you have a spare $10, you'll be helping our cause.
For a $50 donation, you'll be the beneficiary of a hand carved bud vase
A $100 donation gets you a bud vase AND a handmade Earthbenders cup
For $250 you'll receive both of the above as well as a hand carved teapot -
