Sigma Alpha Iota, Theta Gamma and Phi Mu Alpha, Nu Eta are trying to raise funds to bring Music & Memory to local nursing homes. There are more than 5 million Americans living with Alzheimer's today. 1 in 3 seniors will die with Alzheimer's or another form of dementia. The elderly members of our community still have a voice. All too often, that voice is locked away by disease and consequently, the stories and wisdom they have to share are as well. There is a way to help them.
Music & Memory is a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing ipods with personalized playlists to nursing homes that specialize in the care of patients with Alzheimer's and dementia. By simply allowing patients to listen to the music they once loved, Music & Memory is unlocking the door to the past of our elders and helping them come back home. These people are still "alive inside." By donating to this campaign, you will help us bring the Music & Memory program to as many Alzheimer's care facilities as possible, beginning with Morningside Ministries.
Come to our musicale on Monday, March 16 at 7:30 p.m. to learn more about the program.
$30 buys a 30 song playlist.
$49 buys an ipod shuffle.
$98 buys two ipod shuffles.
We don't want to stop there. Our goal is to help homes pay the $1000 required to become a certified Music & Memory facility. Help us make that happen. One day, this will benefit all of us.
