Matt Bowen's Medical Fund

We are raising funds to help cover the medical costs and personal costs to the parents of Matt Bowen.
On March 14th, 2015, Matthew Bowen was on Newport Beach enjoying spring break. While body surfing, a wave overtook him and slammed him into the floor of the ocean, breaking his C5 vertebrae. After his friends did not see him for a few minutes, they found him face down in the water and rescued him from drowning, and was immediately sent to the Hoag hospital. The accident has left him paralyzed from the waist down, and he also does not have use of his hands, but can move his arms, and is still able to speak.
He went into surgery around 10pm pacific time, and after his surgery, is was discovered that the spinal cord is not severed, but was compressed by the broken verterbrae and is severely bruised. The doctors say the surgery went as well as it could have, but his chances of walking were a long shot.
The next morning, when Matt regained consciousness from the surgery, it was discovered that he had feeling back in his hands, and in parts of his legs and feet, however, he is still unable to move them.
His loving parents, Gary and Vickie Bowen, immediately flew out to the hospital to attend to Matt and support him. Along with the huge medical bills, they are also incurring extra costs because they are unable to bring Matt home for the near future because of his unstable condition.
This fund is to help alleviate his parents of the financial burden that they are incurring so that they may more fully attend to Matt's physical and emotional needs at this time. Anything that you can donate is much appreciated and the Bowen family is grateful for any donations, as well as your thoughts and prayers for Matt at this time.
