These programs are funded through your donation. Everyone that makes a donation will receive a copy of “Mind Talk”

Many low-income communities are facing major unemployment challenges. It’s clear that no one can tackle these issues alone. But when we come together our collective voice can make a difference.

Excess funding will go directly to those non-profit organizations within low-income communities that offer employment resources for making a difference.

“MIND TALK”
It’s time to get involved campaign is focus on engaging young people to leverage their current skills toward a high paying rewarding career.

I would love for others to join me.  Make your voice heard by making a donation, then tell all your friends and family about it. Together we’ll send a clear message across the country that we care about the success of young people!

Youth Workforce Self-Help Development

This part of the program is self-help and works to make sure that every young person is ready to excel in the work place by providing school libraries and community centers in low income areas nationally with free copies of Mind Talk. This informational resource contain blueprint instructions on how to build a successful career and prepare student and young people to entering the workforce and becoming the very best they can be. One of the most powerful gifts we all have is the ability to better ourselves every day, in every way.  The work force component contained within Mind Talk provides the reader with fundamental information to build a solid foundation for their future career.

Our Hands-On Approach

This part of the program seeks to help disadvantage young people improve their employment status within the African American and Hispanic communities.  These young people consistently experience higher levels of unemployment, including long-term unemployment and less job stability than older workers or their white counterparts. They also receive inadequate opportunities for vocational training. The lack of job opportunities in these communities has led to unaccepted social behaviors, such as crime, alcohol and drug addiction.  Those currently employed many will remain entrenched in poor paying jobs. Many others are woefully unprepared to succeed in the workplace.

The objective is to work with existing organizations providing employment-based skill training and development within these low-income areas and to incorporate the principles of Mind Talk into their existing programs. Core principles that build career ladders; that focus on motivation, empowerment, behavior and behavior management change and goal setting, for young people 17 to 24.

It is critical to improve employment outcomes and increase their chances to succeed so that they can successfully transition to adulthood and become long-term economic self-sufficient and to contribute positively to society.

This transitional approach is aimed toward assisting young people explore innovative ways as expressed in Mind Talk.  To use those principles to earn a descent wage thus addressing this challenge.

Program Impact

Employers’ expect young people to arrive with a core set of basic knowledge and the ability to apply their skills in the workplace- unfortunately the reality is not matching the expectation.

How can young people be expected to succeed in the workplace without the knowledge needed.  This book will change lives.

The move from school student to full-employment is not as linear as it was in the past. Young people today must not only have to do math and science, which is good.  The problem with young people goes way beyond these educational skills. Most are clueless about the fundamentals workings of business life and how to get ahead.  A survey by Workforce Solutions Group at St. Louis Community college finds that more than 60% of employers say applicants lack communication and interpersonal skills.  The sad news is that this is an increase of 10% in just two years.

Adecco a staffing company, found similar results; the company said in a statement that 44% of respondents cited a lack of skills such as critical thinking, communication, creativity and collaboration.  Talent Shortage Survey found that applicants are lacking in motivation, interpersonal skills, appearance, and flexibility.  These are vital skills needed to successfully participate in the workplace.  Yet none of these skills are being taught in schools.  Despite this almost universal interest by businesses in the development of good workers, most schools do nothing to prepare students for the workforce.  This is a mistake; these skills can enrich student’s lives and education and offer benefits even beyond itself.  These skills can be applied to all subjects of study.

Anyone Can Leverage Their Current Skills And Advance To The Top

Most young people aren’t going to be rich and famous nor are they going to be a business owner.  This book will prepare them to enter the work force. As they enter the work place in an entry level position, without proper preparation many soon see themselves as a failure.  This book teaches them how to leverage that entry level position with constant improvement and reach a level of success far beyond anything they can imagine. Done constantly even the smallest steps can quickly compound into vast improvements. Through leveraging everyone has a chance of working their way to the top.  From the entry level mailroom worker high school graduate to the Harvard graduate district sales manager.  It’s not where you start, it’s where you finish!

Why Younger Workers Are Not Prepared For The Job Market

As children our interest, dispositions, and values are shaped through influences within our environment. Those things young people learn as children are applied on the job. Therefore, obtaining their work place skills becomes a spectator event; they become a duplication or reproduction of those within their environment.  Most of them aspire to make a living rather than aspiring to make a career. Trapped by dogma this process creates a mindset for failure. Most young people become average workers or fail within the workplace because they don’t know what to do to become successful.  This is a state of mind that can be changed by reprogramming their thinking.  This book teaches young people how to manifest their personal greatness by elevating the quality of their thinking.  It also teaches them how to change their value system and how to focus and develop new skills, work ethics and communicate effectively. These skills can take them many places if they are properly nurtured. Valuable Skills that can consistently develop throughout their career.  Most young people go through life never knowing what their talents are and most never develop them. They never take the time to reflect on what is their true passion.  This book stresses the importance of reading and using other resources and constantly looks for ways of getting better. This process makes them wonder and think and trains their mind to serve them, accelerating the possibilities of obtaining success and increasing their value within the workplace.

Changing Your Mindset

Everyone is born with an intense drive to learn.  Early childhood is the time children develop social skills that will carry them through the rest of their lives.  Developing good skills in the early years gives them a feeling of confidence and strength of character.  As they become older, they develop more complex and flexible social strategies.  As young and older adults can we change our mindset? The answer is yes. Our frame of mindset is a running account of those things we judge important that is taking place in our head.  These thoughts guide the whole interpretation process.  The fixed mindset creates an internal monologue that is focused on judging. This judging determines your attitude, which is the most important aspect of your success or failure.  To change your mindset you must change the internal monologue from a judging one to a growth-oriented one. People with a growth-oriented mindset are opened to experiencing new things and new ideas; they are constantly monitoring what’s going on, and is attuned to its implication for learning and taking constructive action.

Older Workers vs Younger Workers

Young people today are living in an era of rapidly changing technology, accelerated changes and overwhelming complexity; they not only have to be concerned with these advance technologies, they also have to contend with a population shift. That has brought about tremendous competition.  A population shift of older retirement age workers battling younger potential workers for entry level jobs at supermarkets, fast food restaurants and many other places.  These are older workers that are battle tested in the work place more mature and more motivated. With the high cost of living and the skyrocketing healthcare cost, millions of older workers are delaying retirement and others are returning back to the labor market to supplement their income.  This book teaches young people how to be creative and resourceful.

Harnessing Your Powers

Most young people give up on themselves too easily. This book changes their belief system by teaching them to harness the power deep within them, strengthening their well and self-esteem, not let anything stop them. Never let someone tell them, they can’t do something, if they’ve got a dream they can follow it. They become what they believe. Every child is meant to shine as they enter into adulthood.
