Tina's Recovery Fund-Tina Tough

Donation protected
Tina Elliott is a 43 year old school teacher who went to the emergency room with strep throat and influenza. That same night she went into septic shock and was put on induced life support. She also went into toxic shock. She has been in the hospital since the end of January  battling the life threatening illness. She was in critical condition fighting for her life and was not expected to survive. With prayers and a miracle, she turned a corner toward recovery and was able to come off of life support and breath on her own.

She has a long, rough road ahead of her and a lengthy hospital stay. She also has many additional life changing challenges to overcome. As a result of sepsis throughout her body, the infection caused the muscles in both legs to disintegrate. She has gone through numerous surgeries on her legs. Doctors have taken every measure to try to heal them. Unfortunately, the damage was irreversible and she had to have both legs amputated above the knees. She also had to have  additional amputation on her left leg. There is a possibility that she may need a  few more surgeries in the near future.  She has a lengthy hospital stay ahead of her and will need intense rehabilitation.

Not only were her legs affected, she currently has issues with her hands. The infection did damage to the nerves in her hands and she has limited or no use of both hands. She will need intense therapy on her hands as well.

Tina is a very independent, active individual with a love for life.  She loves to make people laugh and has a sense of humor like no one.  She has a love for animals especially her dogs and horses. She spends most of her time caring for her horses as well as volunteering at various locations taking care of horses. She also gives riding lessons to people of all ages as well as children with special needs.

Since she is a teacher in New Jersey, she is not eligible for state disability. She has lost her wages and has no income. We are trying to help her financially with medical expenses that she will incur.

Tina is truly a miracle for surviving what she was expected not to. She is a special person that deserves a special story.
