Hello everyone! My name is Alissa Ponder, and I own Sweet Curls Elixirs, custom made hair care on Etsy.
I make (mostly) natural hair products that you can have custom made for your hair needs, as well as allergic and/or sensitivity needs!
I have been in buisiness for nearly 2 years, my shop's anniversary will be August 31st! In this time, I have always used shop revenue to purchase ingredients and supplies for new products. The reason that I am now asking for help to fund the purchase of ingredients and supplies is because I have Lupus and Crohn's disease, and last month I had to go to the Emergency Room three times. This led to a huge part of my revenue being used for co-pays and medicine.
Normally I would put off the purchase until I could afford it again. However, one of the services I provide is formula duplication on products that have been discontinued. I am sure a lot of us know how hard it is to find that Holy Grail hair product that just WORKS, only to have it disappear off the market! Recently a much loved Etsy shop that provided curly hair products closed and many of my curly and wavy friends were heartbroken to no longer be able to purchase their Holy Grail product. So it was asked of me to duplicate it (if the Etsy shop owner who closed decides to re-open, I will discontinue the production of the dupe, which is the only fair and right thing for me to do). However, due to the unforseen expense of making sure my health is kept in check, I do not have the money to buy the ingredients I need to start formulating.
I also wish to start formulating a new collection of leave in herbal hair teas that would address dry hair/scalp, oily scalp, itchy/flakey scalp, volume, etc. I would love to have this ready before winter gets here when many of us need more moisture and conditioning. I need to purchase quite a few herbs for this venture.
