Born during a night of meteor showers in February, this 2005, 15.3hh gelding by Kimberlite Pipe and out of Meteor Light is the incarnation of bright and shining lights. From his sparkling personality to his flashy movement to his ability to streak nimbly over fences, Meteor Shot aka “Shooter” will light up your life. Shooter has had two careers – first as a racehorse (14-3-1-0), and second as the personal riding horse of a tiger trainer in the circus. When the tiger trainer had to move out of the country unexpectedly, Shooter needed yet another career. We said a meteoric yes to bringing him back to the MMSC. Shooter is smart and quick like Jimmy Fallon and as athletic, balanced, and graceful as the legendary ice skater Scott Hamilton. To know him is to love him. Riding him is never dull. He loves to work and jumping makes his heart sing.

Shooter is currently in training in a foster home with his favorite person Melissa. Melissa is a former employee of the MMSC and adopted a horse from us several years ago. She unfortunately can't afford a second horse, so we are asking for your help to sponsor Shooter until he finds his forever home! Shooter is a horse who likes consistency - with his people, his schedule, and his location. The MMSC campus proved to be too stressful for such a consciencious horse, so he went to live with Melissa until his perfect person finds him. This has proven to be the best solution for Shooter at this time, as he is happy, relaxed, and has blossomed under Melissa's care.

As you may or may not know, horses are very expensive! Shooter requires funds for necessary care such as hoof care, feed and hay, vet care when necessary, and board, as well as for funds to continue his training and show him at local horse shows, which serves the goal of advancing his training and also serves to show him off to a wider public and perhaps help find his person.

The Maker’s Mark Secretariat Center (MMSC), located in the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky, the Horse Capital of the World, is a premier reschooling facility and showcase for adoptable Thoroughbreds. Founded in 2004, the MMSC uses its illustrious location to herald the athleticism of this amazing breed by teaching new skill sets to horses of all levels of ability using the Horse Centered Reschooling Program® developed by MMSC Director Susanna Thomas so they can go on and be ambassadors for racehorses in new careers. The MMSC is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday (9 to 2) and is proud to offer myriad educational opportunities for learning about and interacting with this remarkable horse–The Thoroughbred–America’s equine sports vehicle.
