Send Meredith to Camp!

Meet Meredith. Meredith is a wonderful young woman in her early 20s. She loves life, people, and loves goes to camp! She also suffers from Mitochondrial Disease. This disease results from failures of mitochondria, which produce 90% of the energy needed by the body to sustain life and support growth.
Three years ago, Meredith's father had a stroke. Since then, Meredith's mom, Paula, became the caregiver for both Meredith and her father. This past February, her dad passed away. Paula is now faced with returning back to work while also taking care of both Meredith and her sister.
We are starting this campaign to raise money for Meredith to attend Lindsey's Place; a non-profit organization that provides year round recreational programs for children and young adults with special needs.
Camp allows campers time to experience the activities that other kids experience and hold so dear but in an environment that is loving and promoting of independence with nobody looking at you as if you are different or staring and pointing. Camp offers Meredith a place where individuals with special needs can gain new confidence and return home with wonderful memories of new friendships. Many of the activities such as the painting and fishing help to work on their motor skills while other activities such as the yoga help to stretch their limbs and flex their muscles. Lindsey's Place Camp is a place where fun is the goal and everyone is equal.
If we reach our goal of $400, we can ensure that Meredith is set to attend a camp session, relieving her mom from the worry and concern of trying to make sure that this very important experience continues for Meredith. The time at camp is also a break for the caregiver. Mom, Paula, can relax in knowing that Meredith is in a safe and fun environment that she loves with friends that she adores. Camp is a time for the caregiver to rejuvenate and re-stock on their own energy.
