Emergency car fund.

our 1998 toyota camry bit the dust last week. we've been told that the timing chain is broken and needs to be replaced, which is very costly and not guaranteed to save the car since it's an older model(from what we've been told by the mechanic anyway.). at this point, i feel we would be better off spending money on another car rather than spend the same amount of money on the one that is essentially falling/fallen apart.
i don't like asking for handouts. i would much rather work towards this and save up the money on my own terms- but this is somewhat of an emergency. my mom and sister need a way to get their medication, we need a way to get food, i need a way to get to work, and i can't rely on my coworkers and neighbors to get me there forever- it isn't fair.
i'm creating this kind of on a whim because i don't have a 100% solid gameplan yet- all i know right now is that we need a large sum of money fast, should we decide to find a new car, or go through with having the timing chain on our car replaced. i'll update this a little more later when i can think more clearly.
thank you so much for your consideration.
