*UPDATE* 10.14.15
I am changing this up a little since we are doing treatment for 3 years I am still going to need help with  payments for the next 2 years as well. Thank you so much to everyone who has helped and to the kind people who will continue to help my son!

Marshall is my hero!  He is 2 years old - on April 19th, 2015 he was diagnosed with A.L.L. (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia). A.L.L.  is a type of blood cancer that starts in the bone marrow and spreads into the blood stream.  This means that this type of cancer is throughout Marshall's entire body rather than settled into a specific area like other cancer's.

Marshall started waking up at night crying in pain.  I would try to soothe his tears but wasn't successful.  I took him to the ER where they immediately took a blood test, 2 hours later he was being admitted to Doernbecher's Children Hospital diagnosed with this disease.  The emotions that filled me are indescribable.  Fear, worry, helplessness are just a few.  Discovering that my beautiful son has contracted a life threatening disease made me feel like I had been hit by a train. Hope soon followed, when the Doctor's presented a treatment plan.

Marshall started his treatment immediately.  The goal is to get him back to the sweet, fun loving, silly boy that he is.  The treatment plan is expected to last a minimum of 3 years.  He has already been through steroid therapy and various types of chemotherapy. He is the strongest, most brave little boy I've ever had the opportunity to lay eyes on.

Marshall has gone through spinal taps where they administer chemo through the spinal fluid.  He has also had many bone marrow tests with the expecation for them to continue.  I take him to the hospital weekly for continued testing to ensure his white blood cell count, and ANC are both good and that he is showing signs of producing healthy bone marrow. The Dr.'s, Nurse's, and volunteer's at Doernbecher Children's Hospital are amazing.  I am eternally grateful and fully believe he is getting the best possible medical care.

Marshall's immune system is compromised due to the leukemia making him overly and severly suseptible to germs.  I need to care for him and am unable to work except on weekends when his Dad is able to watch him.  I am blessed to have insurance. Half of my salary goes to paying the premium and doesn't even come close addressing any type of deductible - which is $7000 annually and doesn't include the cost of his medications. Any help I can get will be much appreciated.  I will continue to update this site to let you know how Marshall is doing.  I'd love for you to have the opportunity to get to know the little boy that you are helping!  I know you'd love him and he would love to thank you.

Thank you so much!
