Funeral for 6-year-old Boy

Marcus Johnson was just six years old and his parents say he was recovering from heart surgery performed just last week. Young Marcus was riding in a minivan full of children and adults just leaving O’Fallon Park about sunset Wednesday night,  when a car pulled up alongside the minivan on West Florissant and someone inside opened fire. Marcus,  a 15-year-old and a 69-year-old man in the minivan were all shot.

Marcus’ father grabbed a gun and returned fire and then called police. St Louis Police officer raced the critically injured boy to the hospital in hopes of saving the child’s life, but it was too late. Marcus’ injuries turned out to be fatal.  His father who was  hopeful that the boy would lead a better life after surgery is now planning his funeral.

Now with the cost of the recent surgery and other expenses, Marcus’s family is having a hard time paying for his funeral.

Please help if you can. The funeral director has reduced the cost of the funeral, but the family still needs help. The total cost is $5,000. Any amount raised over that will go directly to the Johnson family.
