My perfect little baby was born 01/29/2015, and we can't wait to take him home. He was diagnosed with a large hole in his heart (ventricular septal defect) and he needs open heart surgery to repair it. Michael, Andrew and I traveled to Houston to be evaluated at Texas Children's Hospital for the surgery. They plan to wait till he is 3 months old and can gain weight. He may need a smaller procedure to relieve his symptoms in the meantime (pulmonary artery banding).
Michael has to return to work in El Paso and I will remain here in Houston. We both anticipate having to travel between the two cities frequently for work and school.
Friends, you have all been so supportive and your love and prayers have been a huge source of grace and strength. Many of you are asking how you can help. I know you feel as helpless as we do.
