Hello, my name is Jim Durgin and I am setting up this GoFundMe page for Larry Torno. He is one of the most honest people I have ever met and has done alot for many of our townspeople. For those of you reading this you probably know Larry. He has been a life long resident of Lebanon Maine and for the last 5 years has served as Lebanon's Road Commissioner. Last November Larry became ill and since late December has not been able to work. Larry has cancer. Last week Larry received a letter from the three Lebanon Selectmen (Ben Thompson, Paul Philbrick and Royce Heath) stating that he is no longer eligible for the town to pay there share of approximately 70% of his health insurance premiums. Lebabon pays this percentage for all of the 8 or so full time employees and one full time elected official (Larry). A few days ago, I met with the selectmen and was told since he is an elected official he is basically on his own and the town will not pay any portion of the premiums. The family now has an $1800/month bill to pay and the first payment is due to the town by February 15. This is not only causing the family unneeded stress but it also causing Larry a huge amount of stress. This is the last thing he needs in fighting cancer. I am asking you, if possible, to donate what you can to help Larry and his family. Larry is still fighting this awful disease and several of us are still fighting the Selectmen's decision.
