First, a little about Jerry. If you haven't already seen his smiling face around town or witnessed his absolute dedication to living a life of love and devotion to others- then let us be the first to tell you what an amazing man we have to call our friend. Jerry is selfless and has a way with making even strangers feel like family.  Jerry moved here almost a year ago from Cooperstown, NY. As an avid traveler, Jerry spent many years out embracing the worlds beauty. He took pictures on his phone of the moments that touched his heart along the way. These pictures are also for sale - all profits will go towards medical efforts to save his life.

The #LIVELIKEJERRY campaign was created by friends and family of Jerry Colgate, a current resident of Charlottesville, VA. On the early morning of Sunday November 9th Jerry was walking home on Elliot Avenue. We believe that someone hit him with a car and fled the scene. Jerry was left to die on the side of the road.

We are looking for clues and any tips that we can find to spread light on what happened. Knowing Jerry, if he were conscious, he'd probably be happy with a simple apology. As a community we are reaching out for support. Jerry is facing an uphill battle and fighting for his life. He has a severe brain injury and has been medically induced into a coma. His family and friends are by his side but they need your help. Charlottesville we are asking for you to #LIVELIKEJERRY and show some love to one of our communities finest. Every penny counts. We have had a lot of victims and been through enough heartache as a town. Jerry is still alive and fighting. The world would be a better place if we all tried a little more to #LIVELIKEJERRY.
