Little Warrior's Fund
Hello everyone! I'm starting the fund because I would like to get some help for my dear friend Brittany Schmidt (from Parkers Prairie) and her daughter Zara. Their last 4 months have been full of set backs, hardship, and struggle. But through it all Brittany has remained positive and faithful that God has something better in store for them.
It started back on September 29, when Brittany unexpectedly went into labor at 18 weeks gestation and lost her son Arlo. Because of this, she was hospitalized on and off in hopes of keeping her other baby (Zara) in until viability. She was unable to work during this time. Unfortunately, just a few weeks later on November 8, Zara was born at just 23 weeks 5 days gestation. She only weighed 1 pound 5.5 ounces. She has faced many struggles in the 4 1/2 months she's been alive. Shes had a lot of breathing issues, digestive issues, and heart issues. She recently had surgery to repair a hole in her heart which has so far been successful. Her road to recovery is still a long one but coming from a 50% chance of living at birth, she has proven how tough of a Warrior she really is.
As you can imagine, Brittany's ability to work during this time has been very limited. Between the stress of losing her son, her daughter fighting for her life, trying to pay for gas to get to the hospital, food, and every day struggles, its a wonder she's still as positive as she is. On top of it all, she is having to move and completely furnish a new apartment. Through the help of friends, family and generous strangers, we have been able to get her furniture but she is very behind on finances. Additionally, its unknown when Zara will be able to come home and in what condition. She will be staying with friends until she can get into a Ronald McDonald house until Zara can come home. If we could gather some money for a nest egg so she doesn't have to worry about working when Zara comes home, I know it would brighten her spirits even more.
