Urban Ecosystems - a small animal habitat initiative in Ontario is in the process of opening a new wildlife refuge and education centre, which will bring an interactive educational experience, showcasing deciduous animals in their natural habitat and people coexisting alongside them with the systems that can make this sustainable method of existence possible, particularly for Urbanized areas.

The Let Them Be Free campaign is one of two projects aimed at helping endangered or eradicated species on the new wildlife refuge we are working on located in Bancroft, Ontario.



This project aims to accomplish three main goals:

The first being is to provide commercialized horses in captivity, the opportunity to be reintroduced to freedom for the first time in their lives, giving them the ability to run wild and free, as they were meant too naturally.

The second goal of the project is to help reestablish these horses as the first naturalized herd of wild horses in Ontario in over 200 years.

Bringing back a magical part of our natural heritage, and teaching people about the importance of wild horses to prevent repeat persecution and cruelty.

Why It Is Important

The reintroduction of horses to the natural ecosystem is a vital component to both the health of the ecological community and the animal's overall well-being, as they experience something we often take for granted far too often - Freedom.



As there is no legal laws protecting them - either provincial or federal, Wild Horses have been some of Canada’s most persecuted and victimized large mammals, with less than a handful left today in BC, Nova Scotia and Alberta, and with the remainder wiped out of the rest of the provinces, let's make sure history doesn't repeat itself here in Ontario. We are aiming to adopt commercial horses in situations that require rescue for them to experience freedom.

Here is How You Can Help:

Your donations, no matter the size, will help us give much deserving horses the chance at freedom and an experience to live in accordance with their natural instincts. These donations will help to cover:



- The costs of Building a naturalized den for the small herd.

- Protective Walls to keep them safe in their naturalized grassland.

- Covering the costs of transporting them to the Refuge.

- Covering any costs of proper grassland maintenance.

- Costs assumed in the negotiation process, acquiring them from the commercial industries using these horses.

For every horse that we can save and give freedom to, that is one more soul who won’t have to experience hardship their entire lives or worse. It will also provide people the opportunity to experience magic, getting to see horses as they were meant to be - because they deserve to Run Wild Too!
