Lena is a purebred miniature dachshund. Before she came into the care of Nancy, her loving mommy, she belonged to a woman who kenneled her up almost all of the day because she couldn’t handle Lena as a puppy. The woman’s aunt was appalled by the kenneling, and as a postal worker, got word out that Lena needed a home. A friend of hers took him out with her on his daily mail runs, and one day, he took sweet Lena into a flower shop. One look and it was all over. Nancy took the little pup in, and seventeen years later, they have both grown together and given each other love, kindness, and companionship.
But like all good things, there are bumps in the road for them. As it says in the title, we are desperate to help Lena live a long life. Thursday of April 16th, Lena went into the doctor for swelling in her face near her mouth. Much to our dismay, we found out that she had a badly abscessed tooth on her right side. She also has several loose teeth that need to be pulled as well as the abscessed tooth. Aside from the abscess tooth, the vet ran tests on her major vital organs, and everything is still in great condition for her age at seventeen. To pull out the teeth and to keep our little old lady, the cost is going to be almost 1500 dollars. We are desperate for help. We have started planning for a garage sale but fear that it may not be enough to cover the costs of the vet bills. We are asking you, kindly internet folks, to lend us a helping hand.
