I just wanted to thank everyone who made it possible for us to get this handicap van for Kyle! We had a little trouble with the shipping company but it finally arrived safe and sound. Kyle just loves it and getting around is so much easier! We have been getting out a lot more since we got it and are hoping to go to Cades Cove and check out the Fall leaves soon in our new van! Even thinking of doing a few longer road trips as well.
$9, 582 Wow!!! This is $582 over our original goal of $9,000. I feel so blessed and loved. I am so excited to share with everyone that we bought a handicap van that we believe will be perfect for Kyle! It is being shipped up from Florida and will hopefully be here sometime this weekend. The van sort of just fell into place at the right time...and it had everything we were looking for. I will post photos when it arrives. This could not have happen without all your support. Thank you and God Bless everyone who helped by praying, sharing and giving! Kelly
Quick update: We may have located a handicap van in Florida that would work perfect for Kyle's needs! We have to check into shipping cost, try to make the $$$ work out and a few other things. I will let you know what happens!
We are still collecting donations even though we have met our original goal of $9000 to help cover all the extra cost we didn't consider when we started this search and still hoping we can find a nice van we can afford. We are seriously searching, trying to find the right van in our price range. Even the older used handicap vans are very expensive. If we find a van out of state and it has to be shipped to us cost around $500 or more, getting an EZ lock system attached to the bottom of Kyle's electric wheelchair so he can lock into place in the van cost $400. The EZ lock system itself that mounts in the van cost $2000. A lot to consider and has to fall into place that we didn't even think about at first... but we are looking and talking to people everyday finding out just what we need! Thank you again for all the generous donations, suggestions and prayers, I will keep you updated in our search!
Thank You and God Bless everyone that has helped us get to $9,142! Kyle is very excited to find a van that will work for him and thanks to all of you we are able to. We will be selling the mini van we have now to put towards the cost also, even the used handicap vans are still so expensive but we know God will help us to find the right van for Kyle and our family! Thank You again!
$8, 822...We are right there near our goal! I can't believe the goodness and generosity of friends and our community . It's just wonderful to watch Kyle's handicap fund grow! We have started a serious search for the right van... We don't need anything real fancy...looking for a older used van with lower miles, with all the things Kyle will need to transport safely. A wheelchair lift, EZ lock system, raised roof or lowered floor. We are thinking we would like a full size van, something we can take on our adventures and enjoy riding in. We will keep you updated on our search! Thank you again for all the shares and prayers and support!
Happy Labor Day!!! $8,322 is another HUGE blessing! So many people know Kyle's story now, how far he has come and are surrounding us with so much love and support. Thank you for all the donations, shares and prayers! I can't tell you what it means to have so many people helping us with this need and journey we are on. We are so much closer to getting that handicap van for Kyle thanks to you and we could have never done it without all your generous donations...everything adds up! We have started looking at a few vans seeing just what it is we are wanting that will work best for Kyle's needs so he can keep going on those adventures he loves so much! All this is new to us and there is so much to think about and consider. Please keep sharing and praying about this need and finding the right van! Thank you again.
$6,925 Raise so far is a huge blessing! Wow, we couldn't of even thought of getting a van without your help! Thank you so much for your donations, shares and support! Kyle's story aired last night on WBIR Fox 43, Knoxville and we shared some of his story and about our need for a handicap van for him. God has great plans for us, we are accepting all these changes and learning how to do life an all new way. Thank you again and please keep sharing to help us reach our goal so we can get that handicap van for Kyle.
Wow $4,750!!! We are getting closer to our goal every day! A HUGE thank you to everyone who has generously donated. We have started searching for the right van, for the right price, at the right time and are praying for this to all work out in God's timing! We are looking for a nice used mid to full size van with a side lift to fit Kyle's larger electric wheelchair size and weight of 350lbs. A lot has to come into place for this to work so please keep sharing and praying about this need for a handicap van for Kyle! Thank You again and God Bless!
Again I can not express my appreciation deeply enough for all your help and support. $4,620 is HUGE! Please keep sharing and giving if you can, we still have a ways to go to reach our goal so Kyle can get his handicap van!
I am feeling very blessed and thankful for all the donations this morning. I can't believe we just went over the 1/2 way point! This is so AWESOME!!! Kyle loves to check out the sight and his mouth dropped open, followed by a big smile when he saw $4,520 has been raised for his handicap van. Thank you so much and please keep sharing...we are well on our way to our goal for a handicap van for Kyle!
WOW! I don't even know what to say! $4,100 is HUGE! We are almost 1/2 way to our goal already! Thank You for all the prayers and support!!! I feel so blessed and excited about this all coming together in God's timing...God is at work here and I know this will be what HE wants in to be. I just ask that you keep sharing and praying that we are able to find the right van, for the right price, at the right time!
Kyle has been through so much but we still have such a long way to go! With your help I do think we can make this Handicap Van for Kyle happen! We are off to a great start! I can't believe how much we have raised! Thank You and keep rolling towards the goal...never look back!
That's how we ROLL!

I don't know what will happen with this fundraiser or need we have for a handicap van but I do know God is in control of this Journey we are on and it will turn out in Gods timing and plans. I trust him on this quest we are on.
By Kelly Mules dedicated to my hero and son Kyle Mules
My son is still the same kid in his spirit and his mind. Guillain- Barre has found him unable to run and hide.
My son is still here with me, laughing and telling jokes. Trying to get better and meeting some really awesome folks.
My son still has a future yet I'm longing for the past...fun walks along the beaches. Running about the grass.
My son is still the same kid sweet and funny as can be. Struggling to get better. Trying to be set free.
My son is still the same kid, the person he use to be. Just now he's in a wheelchair and he depends on me.
My son has been through so much, now he's looking for some fun, being in a wheelchair not sure how it is done.
My son is such a fighter, trying to be so brave. Seeking out adventure like exploring a deep, dark cave.
My son is still the same kid, a teenager no doubt. Learning how to deal with it. Rolling all about.
My son is still the same kid, learning all new ways. working hard a rehab all his summer days.
My son is so inspiring and getting stronger every day, accepting all these changes. Finding all new ways.
You may have no idea how hard it is to ask for help. But if you have been following Kyle's journey you may have an idea how much I am willing to do to better his way of life and to learn an all new way for him to enjoy it! As most of you know Kyle was diagnosed with GBS in Sept. 2010. Kyle became suddenly paralyzed in just 12 short hours from this rare disorder changing everything in our lives in the blink of an eye.
Kyle is getting stronger everyday and we are learning all new ways to enjoy the things we love. He is still in a electric wheelchair unable to walk on his own. It is getting harder and harder to lift him in and out of the van we have because he a growing 14 year old boy and is getting heavier and taller everyday. It is very hard to lift him in and out of the van and my back is really starting to pay the price.
We have been lifting Kyle in and out of the van for almost 3 years now, unfolding a really heavy metal suitcase style ramp and setting it in place, then rolling his 350 lb. wheelchair up into the back, it barely fits, and then folding the heavy ramp back up and putting it back in the van, sometimes doing this several times a day...several times a week. In the rain it is even harder, the wheelchair slides on the ramp and won't go up leaving me to ask for help from strangers many times.
As any parent would do for their child I am trying to show Kyle he can still have lot of fun...we just have to learn how. Staying home and doing nothing isn't an option! I want Kyle to get out and do the things he loves in a all new way...that's how we ROLL! But many times we limit ourselves on what we do because transportation is always such an issue.
We have put off looking for a handicap van because of the cost and the truth is...I was hoping he would be able to walk again by now, but he is not and now I know it is time to get a handicap van for him and our family to use to make his life easier...and ours too.
With all the medical bills and life changing events our family has been through since Kyle got sick there is just no way we can afford a new handicap van at over 50K. It is all we can do to just make it each month... so we are trying to raise enough money to put towards a nice used handicap van. I believe God will make a way when there seems to be no way.
After much thought and prayer I decided to reach out to our community and friends once again and see if we can't make this happen. Thank you for all your support and prayers many of you have sent our way during this life changing journey we are on. Kyle has come a long way but we still have a long way to go.
I have set up this site so that if you would like to help by giving it is a easy way to do so but please don't feel obligated, and if you can't help right now that's ok. Maybe you can share this page with others or just pray with us about this need we have for a handicap van.
