Kumar's Medical/Rehabilitation Fund

Kumar Polk is a 7 year old boy from Vallejo California. He is an active, little boy who loves to play sports, especially football, basketball and baseball. On Wednesday, April, 22, 2015, Kumar was the victim of gun violence while playing in the Vallejo community with his friends. While playing outside, Kumar was shot by two stray bullets. The bullets struck Kumar in his left middle finger and his torso.

Kumar is currently in critical condition at Children's Hospital in Oakland. The bullet that travelled through Kumar’s abdomen hit and broke a vertebra in his back and caused it to injure his spinal cord. According to his neurosurgeon, there is a possibility that Kumar may be paralyzed from the waist down. Kumar is awake, but he has no feelings in his feet and legs.

The family of Kumar Polk is asking for the community’s support to help pay for some of his medical expenses that will not be covered by insurance. Kumar will need multiple surgeries, rehabilitation, plastic surgery, physical therapy, and counseling to help him heal from his wounds.

The family would like to thank all of those who have reached out to support them during these difficult times.

Please keep Kumar in your thoughts and prayers. Your support is appreciated.
