Help Dr. Stacey Addison

Donation protected
I have started this fund on behalf of my close friend and colleague Dr. Stacey Addison, whom I have known for over 15 years.
Dr. Stacey Addison, a Portland, Oregon veterinarian has been unjustly imprisoned and detained in East Timor since September 5, 2014.  While pursuing her dream of an around the world trip, Stacey had the misfortune of sharing a taxi with a complete stranger crossing the border from Indonesia into East Timor.  Sharing taxis is a common practice in developing countries.  Upon crossing the border, the stranger in the taxi asked to stop at a DHL station to pick up a package.   Unbeknownst to Stacey, this package contained illegal drugs.  Though her belongings were searched and her urine tested negative for any illicit drugs, Stacey was arrested.
Since her arrest on September 5th, Stacey was sent to a women's prison outside of Dili and held without due process for over 2 months.  While there, she did not always have access to clean and purified water sources and has suffered from persistent and ongoing symptoms suggestive of a water-borne tropical disease.
Stacey's case garnered international media attention, including articles in People Magazine and CNN.  The media attention, the work of her legal representative, Paolo Remedios, help from the US State Department and Oregon Senators Merkeley and Wyden, and the support of Nobel Prize winner and former East Timor president, Jose Ramos-Horta were ultimately successful in getting Stacey released from prison.  However, Stacey is still unable to return home as her passport has yet to be returned to her.  Over the past several months, her medical and legal fees have mounted and will likely continue even after she returns home.

Stacey, her family and friends appreciate the generosity of your donation.  Any amount that you can contribute towards Stacey's health and well-being will be useful in the wake of this circumstance of simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time.  We are very hopeful that she will be able to return home soon.
