Volunteer Trip to China

In 2013, I spent 3 months in China helping my dear friend, Melodie, who provides foster care for 30+ special needs orphans. (See below the unbelievable statistics of orphans in the world today.)
Melodie's foster home is actually different apartments on several different floors. They have paid workers to help, not only with the children, but also with the cooking and laundry. China's Spring Festival (Chinese New Year) is coming up in February, for which all the Chinese workers are given holiday. This leaves Melodie with little help for the many needs involved in the care of her children!
This is why I am coming to you: I am going back to China to help my friend through this holiday. It is very short notice (I wasn't at all sure I could get the time off from my work), and I will be leaving on February 14th, and staying through March 1st.
Although it is unbelievably difficult, I am asking if you, my friends and family, would be willing to help me go back to China to help Melodie. It is very expensive to make this kind of trip: getting an updated visa, airfare, taxi service, food, and all the other incidentals that go along with international travel.
I have been saving funds where I can toward the adoption of one of these sweet children, but the need right now is for volunteers in their home to take the place of the holidaying workers.

There are 143,000,000 Orphans in the world today.
Every DAY 5,760 more children become orphans
Every YEAR 2,102,400 more children become orphans
143,000,000 Orphans in the world today spend an average of 10 years in an orphanage or foster home
Approximately 250,000 children are adopted annually, but…
Every YEAR 14,050,000 children still grow up as orphans and AGE OUT of the system
Every DAY 38,493 children AGE OUT
Every 2.2 SECONDS, another orphan child AGES OUT with no family to belong to and no place to call home
Many of these children accept job offers that ultimately result in their being sold as slaves. Millions of girls are sex slaves today, simply because they were unfortunate enough to grow up as orphans.
This information is crushing and I hope spurs you to want to do something about the millions of Orphans all over the world who are in need of love and care. Please Pray about what your response to this devastating information. God calls all of us to help the orphans…What will you do?
