Luna's Battle With Lymphoma
My name is Sean and the wonderful dog whose photo you see here is my best furry friend, Luna. She's a german shepherd/border collie mix (best guess) who my husband and I adopted just over a year and a half ago, when she was 3 years old. She had spent 2 years in a dog run prior to our rescuing. Since then, we've given her a loving forever home since then and provided a new wonderful life for her.
Luna has a wonderful personality. She is playful, silly, loving, and incredibly loyal. Her being part of our family has been an incredible blessing in our lives and in the lives of those around us.
Last week, after she was showing coughing and lethargy symptoms, we took her to the vet. They diagnosed her with lymphoma, which had metastasized to all her lymph nodes. This is devastating news, but we are committed to giving her the best care possible, for the time she has left. This includes various oral medications and IV chemotherapy.
Unfortunately, just like with humans (though to a lesser extent), this sort of treatment is expensive. Also unfortunately, Luna is not insured for such treatment. As such, we must pay for the chemotherapy and drugs entirely out of pocket. The good news is that the veterinarian says that with consistent treatment, her prognosis is a year or longer. Without treatment, she would likely succumb in a matter of weeks or a few months. The first twelve weeks of therapy alone will cost $3000 in drugs, treatment, hospitalization, and monitoring.
I do not enjoy asking for donations, but Luna is a wonderful dog who we love dearly, and we'd be remiss if we did not pursue every avenue possible to guarantee that we afford her the best rest of her life.
We are doing everything we can but we need your help to give her the best life she can have, for the time she has left. Please consider a donation to assist in her treatment. Any amount will help, and you will have our eternal thanks. If you cannot provide monetary help, please at least consider her in your thoughts and prayers.
Thank you.
