October is Blindness Awareness Month!!  Your support will help children, youth, and young adults who have sight-impairments to see more clearly using Braille Technology, Braille Books, Adaptive Kitchen Equipment, Talking Technology, Braille & Talking Watches, Blind and Low Vision Readers, and so much more!!!  Thank you in advance!


An Attractive Thinker is a person with VISION who can SEE BEYOND what they are looking at and has the COURAGE to FOCUS on what they see until it manifests!

Redefine Your Defining Moment!!Great Day, Attractive Thinker!  It's a Great Day to Be Alive!  We all have defining moments that change the way we show up in the world.  I'd like to share my defining moment with you.  On Saturday, October 17, 1987, I sat in an Opthamologist office with my 10-month old son sitting on my lap. The doctor stood up, proceeded to the door, turned the lights out, closed the door, and took a seat next to me.  She pulled out what looked like an ink pen and pointed it in my son's face. It turned out to be a flashlight which focused solely on his eyes and highlighted what she suspected after dialating his eyes 3 times!  "Mrs. Hatton, your son has Bilateral Retinoblastoma, cancer in the retina of both of his eyes. The only cure for this is to have both of his eyes removed."  This is one statement that I'll never forget!  My world as I'd known it had changed in an instant. I'm now unfamiliar with everything. What used to matter, no longer has meaning. My thoughts... "I must create a new way of showing up in the world. I must learn to live all over again!"     After several months of radiation, chemotherapy, and unique-type surgeries, by the time Kevin was 5 years old, the decision was made to remove both eyes in an attempt to save his life!  This year, he'll be 30 years old, has accomplished many successes, including producing his own music and graduating as a Certified Massage Therapist!  As a result of showing Kevin how to see without eyes, it enabled me to show people with eyes how to see.  ...how to properly see in life because his darkness became my light!  


As a Vision/Mindset Expert at www.theattractivethinker.guru We support courageous risk-takers, go-getters, trail blazers, path-finders, and out-of-the-box thinkers in discovering the treasure in their defining moment and serving it to the world!  A lack of mental vision can cause one to create cycles of starting and stopping and talking themselves into and out of the very things that they desire!


 Next month, which will be almost 30 years later, This year, October 17th falls on a Monday, the same date that Kevin was diagnosed!  I chose this day to redefine my defining moment and to support others in doing the same! This day, Attractive Thinkers throughout the country will be inspiring others to see themselves and their lives more clearly, encouraging others to dream again, and to think a different thought! Here at The Attractive Thinker, we celebrate people of vision for redefining their defining moments and for having the courage to believe that what changed their lives actually gave them life! This day is set aside to celebrate, inspire, and motivte the courageous, out-of-the-box thinkers who decided to make their lives count, pull the gems from their journey, and serve them to the world. My defining moment, the diagnosis, was really my assignment! It called for a SHIFT in my perception.

      On "The Attractive Thinker" Day, I'd like to make a difference in the lives of children with sight-impairments just as others have made a difference and contributed to the success and independence of my son, Kevin!  We will be giving away 4 different versions of "The Attractive Thinker" t-shirt, awarding college students who have sight-impairments with scholarships, adaptive technology (talking technology to enhance their educational experiences) mailing Braille holiday cards, and providing scholarships to provide support/coaching for parents of children with sight-impairments! 


Children with sight-impairments can live vibrant, exciting, meaningful, and fulfilling lives when given the opportunity to do so!  Braille Technology, Braille Books, and Adaptive Materials sparks creativity, stimulates ideas, and gives our children access to the things that they cannot see!  Thank you for your donation!  ,,, a gift that keeps on giving!!

Kevin Preparing Graduation Dinner for 60 People as a Graduation Requirement from a Life Skills Program for Youth with Sight-Impairments

During the holidays, the National Federation of the Blind, Blind Industries and Services of Maryland, and the Children's Cancer Foundation always made it a big deal to host events for children dealing with life-threatening illnesses and sight-impairments.  These organizations contributed to many smiles on Kevin's face and a lifetime of joyable moments for our family!  As a Vision/Mindset Expert,  I provide vision/mindset resources that strengthen the mind, focus the thoughts, and shift perceptions in an attempt to create new realities!  I'd like to offer 28 scholarships for coaching services to parents as a way of supporting them while they support their children.  

I am in communication with the National Federation of the Blind and Blind Industries and Services of Maryland, two organizations that truly contributed to Kevin's success and independence today!  Your donations will provide:

Braille Literacy/Books for Children!
Adaptive Technology/IPads/Laptops/Notetakers      
     with a Braille Display!
Scholarships for College Students with Sight-
     Impairments!
Scholarships for Summer Programs that promote 
     Life Skills/Independence!  

Last year's The Attractive Thinker Scholarship Award Recipient was Melissa who was able to get an Adaptive Reader to read printed material for college!  Thank you Attractive Thinker for making this happen in Melissa's life!  This one piece of Braille Technology gave her access to a whole new world of possibilities for her while she attends college!


     The day my world turned upside down, was the day my life turned right side up!  The lens through which I viewed life shifted instantly and I continued to move forward, moment by moment, I began to see more clearly.  After the initial shock and the pity parties, I made up my mind that if it had to hurt this bad, I had to make it count.  For if we leave our gems in our journey, our experiences become a simple sad story.  No sad stories here!
