Hello Everyone!
This is my fundraising page for top surgery with Dr. Steinwald in Lake Forest, IL. It would mean the world to me if you could help me get there! Going into my transition, I never imagined myself creating one of these fundraiser pages. I've always told myself I wouldn't feel comfortable receiving money from friends, family and strangers.
I'm Nathan, 22 and a transman from Southeastern Wisconsin who is hoping to be able to undergo FTM Top Surgery with Dr. Steinwald. I've been binding my chest for about seven years now, but the health impacts of binding are numerous and I am just ready to be comfortable and happy all the time with my body and the way I look. I'm currently a Graphic Design student and so money for me (just like most of us) is not readily available, especially when it comes to something like such an expensive medical procedure that insurance will not cover. Asking for help is not something that comes easily to me, and so I want you to know that whether or not you decide to help me out, just the simple fact that you are taking the time to read this and even consider it means so much to me. All donations will be kept in a separate savings account that I have recently set up specifically for my top surgery. I will also be personally contributing to this account as often as I can.
As confident as I have become, I am still a stranger to the man in the mirror and $8,000 stands between me and the body I see in my dreams.
I'm saving as much as I can, but like I said, I'm a twenty-two year old guy and do not have $8,000 lying around. So I turn to you. Any little bit you can spare, be it in the form of money, encouragement, well wishes, or experiences, is greatly appreciated. I am lucky enough to have the amazing support of my loving wife, friends and family to help me through this experience, and every dime you give me will be well spent. $5 will cover one stitch. $10 can buy me a pre-surgery meal to get my blood sugar up. $50 will cover any pre-op tests and blood work, and $100 will cover one night in a hotel. Every little bit counts, and I am and forever will be eternally grateful for all your kind generosity in helping me on this incredible, necessary, long-over due and let's be honest, somewhat scary, journey.
I'm twenty-two years old and I have never been happy in my body. With any luck, and with your help, I can change that. So for the first time in twenty-two years my skin will feel like home.
I'm hoping to schedule surgery as soon as possible. Ideally I would like to have surgery by the end of 2015 but that all depends on how much I can raise from you all and how much I can save myself.
