Keely (pictured in the center) went to see Dr. Dirks in St. Peter on Thursday for a follow-up with her new eye prescription. She previously was seen in January and had a change made to her prescription. We made this follow-up on Thursday due to Keely complaining of headaches, double vision, nausea, and arm tingling. Dr. Dirks completed his eye exam but believed there was something more going on. He then took a picture of the inside of her eye and noticed some swelling. Dr. Dirks then performed a field test to confirm this. After reviewing everything, Dr. Dirks referred us to the emergency room in Mankato. After waiting in the emergency room for hours, the doctor there recommended a CT scan. The scan results came back within 30 minutes and were accompanied by a social worker and doctor to explain the scan. It was relayed to us that Keely has a large mass in her brain on the left side. At this time, we were not given much information but were told to go home, pack at least 5 days worth of clothes, and expect a stay at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. We arrived at St. Mary's around 12:40 am on 6/7/2019. Several doctors and nurses spoke with us about future testing. After a long day (her original appointment was at 3:30 pm on 6/6/2019), Keely, Craig, and I were able to get some rest around 2:30 am. In the morning, Keely went in for an MRI to get a better look at this tumor. Blood tests, x-rays, and other tests were done to get a better look at what was going on. After hours of waiting, we were able to see the results from the MRI. Keely appears to have a tumor the size of a grapefruit that is causing a mid-line shift into the right side of her brain. The neurosurgeon believes surgery to remove the tumor and radiation to shrink whatever may be left is the best treatment course at this time. Keely is on the schedule for surgery tentative for Monday, 6/10/2019.

This is what the doctors believe the tumor is.

Keely will be celebrating her 12 birthday on July 17th.

This fundraiser is set up to help them with travel costs, substitute income for loss of work, household bills and anything that is needed for Keely.

Thank you and God bless.
