Our Canine & Equine sanctuary is located in New Windsor, Maryland, rescuing dogs and horses since 1986. We pride ourselves in taking neglected, abused, and undisciplined animals, many of whom would have lost their lives due to poor care or euthanization.
Since 1986, our organization has always been funded privately through our own self-funding, as well as select private donations from local community members. Over these many years, we have fallen on hard times, and have been able to manage. However, with the recent decline of the economy, we are still hurting. This is the first time we have reached out for support from our community.
Our annual budget is only $75,000. Those funds cover the costs for our facility/electricity, veterinary care, food, hay, advertising to find good families for our adoptable dogs, and for very limited, hired help.
Funding will support several fascets of our organization...
Funds will first go towards our current rescues care and our limited staff. Currently we have many dogs that require spay / neuter.
A small portion of funding will also be directed towards advertising - we feel it is of utmost importance to have a web presence, no matter how small. Through Facebook and a Website, we can better find qualified families for select dogs, to help them find their forever homes. We follow a strict adoption regimine to insure a dog falls into the perfect family. Through our method of adoption, we've only had one dog returned to us in nearly 30 years. As we focus on one dog's adoption at a time, we will be able to move our rescues into qualifying homes to make room for other dogs in need of saving.
Funding will then go to support the continued rescue of additional dogs.
Currently we house and care for 50 dogs and 14 horses with this small, annual budget. We would love to save more.
Every day we get calls requesting we rescue additional dogs in need, and we unfortunately have to turn them away because our budget is dwindling. With your help, we can continue to provide the outstanding care that we have given these 30 years, and continue to rescue both dogs and horses in our region.
