New KC Cary CD - Beautiful and Blue

NOTE FROM PRODUCER MATT ANGUS:

I don’t even know how to explain the story of KC Cary, I think it would be easier to try and explain who he is.  All I can say is that he may be the most talented person I have ever met and probably the most talented person in America, that is not a household name.  His song writing is the best that I have seen come out of western New Jersey, bar none.  I have seen many great singer–songwriters that are also from western NJ, many that also should be household names, but KC just has something above and beyond them, he has a soul that, just like the old bluesmen, comes from living life, living it hard, mostly at his own doing, but it is still living life hard.  He can write a beautiful melody, he can suck you in with an incredible story, he can make you cry.  And just when you think he has destroyed your heart, he will make you laugh harder than any comedian you have ever seen.  His dark is the darkest and his light is the brightest.  To me, he is also a great friend, a wonderful man and a mentor of sorts.  I say “of sorts”, because he has definitely taught me how to be a better song-writer, he has taught me much about humor and how to enjoy life.  In truth he has also shown me how not to be, how not to cause yourself to totally self destruct, because with all of that said, he is a mess.  I mean a total mess, and that is what makes him so lovable, a creative genius and almost impossible to produce.  Come on, I wasn’t going to just kiss his ass, if you know him, you know what I mean.

EDITOR'S NOTE - KC CARY RESPONDS:

In 2001 I became disillusioned with my music career and I walked away.  In the next 10 years, I worked as a counselor at an Alternative High School for Emotionally Disturbed inner city teenagers, but I never stopped writing music or giving ‘concerts for one’ in my living room.  In 2012, I was fortunate enough to reconnect with Matt Angus.  He suggested that I resume creating music.  Since then I have played three successful shows for Black Potatoe.  Matt’s right, I am a mess.  When Matt asks me for my advice, I tell him ‘Whatever I do, do the opposite’.

I now work as a humble bartender; it seems I have traded one dysfunctional group for another.  While gainfully employed, I still have poor life management skills!  I am currently working on my autobiography titled ‘How Many Consecutive Poor Life Decisions Did I Have to Make to End Up Right Here, Right Now?’.  I’d like to thank Matt for volunteering his producing expertise, encouragement and the studio time to complete this project.  I have never been comfortable asking for help, but I need it.  As Matt has explained to this old fart, this is apparently the way you whippersnappers in the ‘Now Generation’ get things done.  I would like to thank all of my friends, and both my fans for all the kind words and support over the years.  On a serious note, the songs on this CD were written and comforted me during of decade of great personal loss.  I hope the finished product will provide hope, comfort, a few laughs and hours of entertainment to all that choose to listen.  If not, it’s makes a great coaster for your refreshing beverage or as a shim for your wobbly coffee table.

MATT ANGUS:

So, here we find ourselves in the process of trying to finish this record we started almost two years ago.  For the last two years KC has taken on the expense of this record, entitled “Beautiful and Blue” and it is time for this record to be finished, preferably for all of us involved, before KC dies of some disease you get from doing things that no human should be doing.  Again, if you know him, you know what I mean.  If you don’t know him, give a listen to some of his songs from his last record 20 years ago at the web addresses below.

Yes, you heard that correct, he has not made a record in 20 years.  So let’s face it, this record better be good.  We need your help to get this record finished.  We are here and this record is sounding great.  When we first sat down to go over his songs, he presented me with about 48 songs.  After about 3 months, we were able to put together the best 12 songs that also followed a narrative of KC's life over the last decade.  This record features Walt Bibinger, Colin Love, Karl Dietel, Chris Hedges, Thomas Felder, Kim Williams, Caren Kennedy, Carol Struble, Randy Artiglere, Mike Caruso, I even played a few notes here and there and Andy Goessling has laid down everything from clarinet and mandolin to being a one man horn section.  We still have one or two surprise musicians to go, but we cannot finish up until we finish funding the record and we get KC off his ass and back in the studio to finish his vocals.  Then I have secured two Grammy winners to take huge cuts in their salaries to finish up the mixing and the mastering, along with packaging and basic promotion.

This is will be the best record I have ever produced.  It is that good.  And in all seriousness, KC does need help to finish it.  I kid him, he is a creative genius and he is a pain in the ass, but he is my friend and he is the kind of person I would really like to see be heard and appreciated for his talent.  I would like to see him get this chance.

Thanks for taking the time to check out this go fund me page.  KC has some great things he is offering here, this all seems strange to him, as he hasn't been involved in the industry in about 20 years.  Someone please let him know this is how it is done now and he is he not just begging for money.  I hope those of you who know him give generously and those who don’t, I hope you do the same, I promise this record will not disappoint you.

SHOULD KC MEET HIS GOAL BY THE END OF 2016, HE WILL PERFORM A FREE CONCERT ON WEDNESDAY JULY 12TH, 2017 SOMEWHERE IN HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ FOR ALL FOLKS WHO DONATED, AT ALL LEVELS.

All Proceed go directly toward the funding of the CD.  This money will re-coup KC's cost for players on the CD, Mixing, Mastering, Artwork, production of the CDs, Posters, Download cards, distribution and hopefully if we can exceed our goal radio promotion and basic publicity.  Feel free to e-mail with any questions, and KC will get back to you, or a member of his crack staff (meaning KC).

Our goal is to try and meet our goal, by the end of the year.  I am sure I can speak for KC and say he appreciates all the support that everyone can show him.
