Michael just wasn't feeling well. He was tired and his back hurt. Through November and December he kept on tour with Lil' Ed & The Blues Imperials. Coming home for Christmas his back ached and he was exsausted. It wasn't like him, he loved touring, music always gave him energy, the Holidays were always so special, yet every day was a struggle.
On January 7th He and Lisa were taking a late morning after packing up the last of their Christmas decorations the night before, when the pain in his back began to radiate down his arms. He was cold and clammy even in their warm home. Lisa called their Doctor and rished Mike to the Urgent care. Mike had had a HEART ATTACK! An ambulance whisked him to Copley Hospital where they discovered he had 4 serious blockages in his heart that would require surgery! Then another Heart Attack happened and he was moved to ICU.
On January 8th Michael had quituple bypass surgery. The back pain that had plauged his for months was due to a 95% blockage in the back of his heart. The pain and poor blood flow from the 4 blockages had zapped his energy. The serious conditions needed immediate crrection!
Michael spent several days in the ICU at Copley. The pain was intense. yet with the help of the incredible Doctors and medical staff there they had him up and walking, improving and getting better. On Tuesday Januray 13th Mike was allowed to come home to continue to heal and get better and stronger.
Mike and Lisa have 2 children at home, Julie and Mikey. Working together they make sure that Michael has everything he needs to get back to being himself again.
For now, touring is on hold. Julie & Mikey are in school, Julie is a Freshman in College and Mikey is in 6th grade. Care costs are mounting.
