In early August 2014 Kathy was hospitalized after having a series of strokes. At age 47 this was a complete "blindside". After hospitalizations, consultations with several Specialists, more tests than she can remember, an angiogram of her brain showed a narrowing of the left caritod artery behind the left ear which is not operable, another blood vessel completely blocked and a severe blockage in the right caritod artery behind the right eye. In November she had a procedure that placed a stint in that artery. The goal was to have a 60% opening but only got 40%. It took months of recovery time but returned to work part time and only recently was back full time. Two weeks ago Kathy had a follow up angiogram to verify the stint was working properly only to get the devistating news that the stint had "rejected" and blood flow to her brain was only 10%. At this time there is only one option and that is an angioplasty procedure. There will be at least four weeks recovery. Although insurance paid for a substancial amount, there are thousands of dollars left to pay from last year's surgery. Currently Kathy has used all of her accrued sick pay recovering from surgery last year plus the savings account is gone. There will be many thousands of dollars in medical bills again. Prayers for a full successful surgery and any help paying with the medical bills would be appreciated so much. A big "thank you" to those thoughtful and generous donars for any help sent to Kathy.
Update # 2
It is now 3 months since the angioplasty was performed. The stint was opened to 50% which is considered a success. Kathy recently returned to work. The next very costly angioplasty is scheduled for November to check the stint. She remains optimistic but also with dread that the stint will fail again. The medical bills continue to mount up so any help with these bills plus prayers on her behalf are greatly appreciated.
