My name is Mark. For those you who don't know me, I'm an aspiring writer/director with a tendancy to imagine a lot. I'm here to ask for your help to make some of those imaginative ideas come to life, by donating and aiding my production studio.
Kartanym Productions
was an idea of mine many years ago, but it's taken a lot of time, patience and (more importantly) a little confidence building to get where we are now. With the aid of my cohort Melody and my partner Adele, I've started that long walk down the path to building something exciting.
So far we've come up with a few nifty little projects too:
Mars
, a YouTube series about two people who meet online and build a long lasting and somewhat unusual relationship, the kind of relationship many don't seem to understand.
PN2: PlayNicePlayNow
, a Let's Play channel featuring video games, board games and other pieces of entertainment, played by myself and a host of other people ... also for entertainment. We hope.
Everything we've done so far came from scratch, with little to no money to pay for any expenses. Which is one of the reasons why I'm here asking for your help, as there's a lot of things we want to do as a production company that we simply cannot afford.
Our plans include:
* Upgrading our equipment. Though we have what we need, we desperately require upgrades to our current video cameras and computer editing hardware and software. We'd also like to purchase lighting rigs and other recording equipment and pay for improvements to our website.
* Pay for the costs of advertising. The best way to get our name out there is by paid advertising, specifically on Facebook and Twitter or at special events (such as the upcoming Oz Comic Con). That includes creating flyers, banners and paying for ad space.
* Paying for any expenses to present our work at future events. We will be at Oz Comic Con this April for the first time, but we're also planning to be at future events around the country if all goes well (including Supanova and PAX, among others).
* Covering staff costs. We'd love to bring more people on board to add more content both to our website, kartanym.com, and our YouTube channels. This includes actors, writers, camera experts, visual and cgi designers and audio editors. More importantly, we'd love to be able to pay them for their hard work.
It's been an expensive process getting this far, so our priority target reflects the general costs of maintaning what we have and upgrading that to a professional level. We're all donating as much time as we can to the things that we love, but a little help goes a long way.
We want to improve, evolve and more importantly prove what we're capable of. If you can donate whatever you can, it will help my team and I reach those goals and hopefully push past them.
I know it's a lot to ask. I've been doing this by myself for many years now, paying my own way, but there's only so much I can do. There's so many things I want to achieve, so many dreams I want to attain ... I don't want them to remain dreams any longer.
