Teachers and students from the Wareham Public Schools Global Education Team (GET) are traveling to Sweden in April, 2016 for a Global Student Summit! The cost of the global summit is beyond the means of many in our underserved community. Each dollar raised here, through your generous donation, will be shared among the students. Please consider giving a student a chance at a life changing opportunity!
The GET is comprised of educators who strive to instill leadership abilities in students and prepare them to be active and productive participants in a global economy.
The Sweden Sister Schools Project involves Wareham teachers and students partnering with a K-8 school in Asaka, Sweden and a high school in the neighboring town of Trollhattan, Sweden. High school students and teachers will participate in "dual enrollment" in a class in the Trollhattan school for one class period/week during fall 2015. GET teachers at Wareham High will likewise, have Swedish students virtually enrolled in one of their classes. The GET will have monthly Skype staff meetings with Swedish counterparts to discuss best practices in education and share ideas, lesson plans and projects. Students will meet monthly as well, via Skype, and their meetings will focus on developing the best solution to a student generated concern, issue or problem.
Students will travel to Sweden with GET teacher leaders on 4/15/16. Teachers will shadow their Swedish peers for a day and then teach both Wareham and Swedish students the following day. Students will likewise, shadow students and work together to present a clear and compelling strategy for the solution to their chosen issue during a global student summit to be held during the visit.
