Financial Assistance for Caleb

Donation protected
Caleb was born on September 18th, 2014. When he was discharged he was already jaundice.  They did some simple blood tests that first week and his levels never went higher, so for a couple of months they didn't seem concerned.  On December 23rd, Caleb's mommy pushed for further testing when his yellow color still hadn't gone away. These tests launched him down a path way that led to his recent diagnosis of a rare liver condition, Biliary Atresia.  Biliary Atresia is a disease where the Biliary tree leading from the liver into the intestines are blocked and do not pass bile causing bile to back up in the liver and slowly poison and damage the tissue. This can lead to liver failure if not treated. Caleb received a surgery on January 15th,  2015 called a Kasai,  that takes the Biliary tree out and connects the liver right up to the intestines. This allows direct drainage for the bile and a hope that there is no more blockage. We were hoping that the surgery was going to be a success, but it quickly failed.  Caleb was rushed back out to the Children's Hospital at Montefiore on March 3rd, and received a life saving liver transplant on March 20th with the donor being his daddy.  Caleb had a lot of bumps in the PICU, having to return to the OR two more times, but finally turned a corner and was able to heal and go home.  He is currently thriving and doing well, but has been struggling with a magnesium deficiency.  Prayers are greatly appreciated as he continues to recovery from such a life changing surgery.

We are accepting donations on behalf of Caleb Munn (parents - Brittany and Brian). Caleb is a patient at the Children's Hospital in Bronx, NY.  Financial assistance will allow both Mommy and Daddy to continue to be at the hospital with Caleb, and help pay for food, travel, and all of these unexpected medical bills. Our goal was originally to raise $2000 for this family, but it was only going to scratch the surface of what was to come for them in expenses. Due to much generosity, we have been able to raise more for this family. Thank you for your help as they go down this road, mommy and daddy are very grateful.
