mytomatoes.com is an online productivity tool, using the Pomodoro technique to help you focus on a task 25 minutes at a time.
It is used all over the world, mainly by students - and particularly by PhD students.
Some fun facts:
- After releasing mytomatoes.com to the world, I forgot all about it. Nine months later I checked back in to see if anyone was using it. To my big surprise, there was already 25 000 tomatoes registered.
- After fours years, there's been a total of 2 863 068 tomatoes completed, each of 25 minutes.
- That's equal to 49 706 days, or 136 years of productive work. Or 34 people working around the clock since release.
But now it is down.
My name is Magnar Sveen, and I have been running mytomatoes.com for the last four years. I've payed for the server out of my own pocket, since I could not abide adding advertisement to a productivity tool. This year I could no longer afford paying for the server, and our provider shut the site down very quickly.
I am working on getting the site back up, and this is me asking for help to pay for the server fees. Fully funded this campaign would cover an entire year of server expenses, including the initial setup fees.
