Hello, I'm the owner/founder of JWSevereWeather, Jesse W. Walters
First, I need to apologize for the outdated GoFundMe site we started a few years ago. We seek funding for search and rescue gear, first aid mass casualty equipment, rental vans to transport immediate responders with us during a chase, and business costs such as the website, business licenses, on and on. All chasing is done completely out of pocket, voluntarily.
We have applied to become a 501c3 charitable organization, non-profit being the key words there. We simply want to warn those in the path firsthand, not just by calling 911 or NWS offices like most "saving lives" chasers, but by going into a community ahead of the path, and alerting them to the FACT that a CONFIRMED tornado is headed towards their area. Once the storm has passed, the immediate responders go in with us, and we get to work.
Those two goals, warning the public firsthand and chasing with immediate responders, are the most prioritized out of several more. We are still in the beginning stages of this dream I have for JWSevereWeather. Yes, it's unconventional, it draws naysayers, and we have a lot to prove to really earn any respect. But I'm proud to say that with 26 other people alongside me, I believe with all my heart that we can make a difference to someone who just lost everything within seconds. That's why we chase. And I will never apologize for that.
