Justice4Mya-Pitbull Shot by MplsPD

Donation protected
Mya, a 4 yr old mother of 8 and beloved family pet, was shot and killed in her yard late Thursday evening, April 16, 2015 by an unidentified Minneapolis police officer standing on the sidewalk. Her family did not receive a warning from police to retrieve the dog, she was just shot on sight as she barked at their presence. This misuse of force is unnecessary and now Mya's family is left to handle the situation alone with no help or guidance from police. Any donations will be received by Ronnie and go towards Mya's funeral expenses, therapy for family devestated by her death, and legal expenses in Mya's fight for justice. Thank you for sharing Mya's story and contributing to our campaign!

From Ronnie: I wonder what's going to happen to the officer who shot my dog? Last night a officer of Minneapolis Police department shot and killed my dog cause apparently he said he was scared to get attacked. Umm... my dog has never attacked anyone. She is very well trained and I had her since she was a baby. She was part of our family. She would have been 5 this summer. I want to ask the officer why he assumed she would attack when all she did was bark at him approaching the property. What makes you different then a mailman, they take proper precaution. Why shoot her when she's in my yard and your not? Why don't you identify yourself before you shoot a barking dog. I've gone to plenty of properties that had dogs I was scared of, I never shot one because I thought it may attack. So why shoot my dog not once not twice but more than 7 shots fired? She ran into my arms and you didn't serve any assistance other than asking me for my identification on my property? Being scared of a dog should never mean come guns blazing. My kids could have been here. Thank God they weren't. But I still had family here!! U put all our lives in danger not to mention shooting and killing a member of my family, MYA. You must not know me I put family first. And MYA will get justice. Just wait on it. We will reserve this weekend for positive energy great memories and celebration of MYAs life verses be bitter over yet another excessive force used by the law! She will not die in vein. She will get justice! She was trained by me and all she was doing was barking at you for being outside the property. It wasn't TIL you shot her she jumped out the yard! I wonder what a mail man would have done in your shoes? If your scared of dogs perhaps you shouldn't be a cop! You never identified yourself by the way... Can't wait to meet you! Til then I just want to remind you that you shot a member of my family!!

Ended up having to get a house to live in because no one was renting apartment properties to me due to my aggressive breed, yet she sleeps with children and plays with toddlers. Getting a house was the best thing I did for me and my family. It provided MYA with not only a sense of belonging but a permanent spot in our family! The very house she has her own bedroom and a bed bigger than mine in is the only house she felt was her property. She loves walking the property and making sure the neighborhood sees her domain. This was her home and residents and she greeted everyone with love and demanded to be loved by forcing you to pet her and make sure you know she's in the room! She realized she had the power to love and chose that every time over hate. She was very well trained. She loves everything but guns. So why come to her property and pull out your gun? Cuz she was being a dog and being MYA? Regardless of her breed and the assumption of being aggressive she never attacked anyone nor bite anyone yet you felt your life was in danger? You felt your pride matter? But MYA will also show you pitbull lives matter. ‪#‎Pray4Mya‬ and make sure you visit the JUSTICE 4 MYA page and share this with everyone. I want to hear the police chief say "Pitbull lives matter". I want the mayor to acknowledge "Pitbull lives matter" and then perhaps the professionals you put in charge will stop the senseless killings.
