Judy Tompkins is a lifetime resident of Knightstown, IN. She has had a daycare in her home since 1990. She has helped raise a large percentage of the kids in Knightstown, sometimes two generations. She loves her kids, and her kids love her. In the last 9 months, she has endured several instances that, even one, would bring most to their knees.
On August 10th, 2016, Judy and her husband Joey were given devastating news. Joey was diagnosed with stage 4 terminal lung cancer. It has spread over most of his body. He went through radiation and continues to have chemo. By doing this, it has slowed the growing of the cancer, but he is in constant pain. Thanks to family and friends, he has been able to get to his numerous doctor visits. Many times, someone would help with the daycare kids so that Judy could go with him.
As we all know, being sick is expensive. Judy and Joey have depleted all savings, and then some, to ensure that Joey has the medications and medical care that he needs. Over the winter, their vehicles were broken down and no money to fix them. Thanks to family and friends, they were able to get rides and borrowed a vehicle. One has been fixed to run, but has issues that will eventually need addressed.
Yesterday, they received more devastating news. Their daughter, Sara passed away unexpectedly, at just 36 years old. She was an intelligent and beautiful young woman. She leaves behind a precious little girl, Hope. She is 3 1/2 years old and just like her mommy, absolutely beautiful.
Now, in addition to the challenges of Joey's cancer, they must bury their daughter and provide for little Hope. Sara did not have any life insurance. No one thinks that they need it at her age.
Even one of the things that Judy has endured over the last 9 months would break most people. Now that even more has been added to her with the death of her daughter, I would like to ease Judy's worry by asking for your help. If you're able, please donate to help Judy with Joey's medical bills, Sara's funeral, and Hope's future. All money will go directly to Judy. Any donation, no matter how big or how small will help this family through this devastating time.
