Freehold American Legion Needs Help
This Veterans organization needs your help.
American Legion, Monmouth Post 54 located in Freehold, New Jersey has been in existence since 1919. Twenty years ago we had over one thousand members. We now have less than 300 and most of those are in their 70s and 80s.
The post home is in an old building that has to be maintained or we'll lose it. In 2014 we had several problems that depleted our building maintenance fund. The furnace had to be replaced, the roof was leaking badly and had to be completely replaced, this also caused water damage to the inside walls and ceiling, the outside brick facade in the back of the building was damaged and had to be repaired. There are several items that need to be taken care of before they become big problems and we don't know what other surprises are coming up in the future. We need to replenish our emergency building maintenance funds.
Throughout the country American Legion posts are being forced to close their doors forever because of the cost of keeping buildings open, we DO NOT want to join that list. If we receive an average of only one dollar from everyone who reads this, we will reach our goal. As a Freehold native singer and songwriter once wrote: "From small things, mama, big things one day come."

The Legion stands behind the issues most important to the nation's veteran community, backed by resolutions passed by volunteer leadership.
