Cresset Lighting Project

During my first grade year, I joined Scouting as a Tiger Cub. Through four troops in three states, I have experienced camaraderie, gained knowledge, and grew in my independence. Today, while working toward my Eagle Rank, I am giving back to the community some of what I have gained by being a scout. I have chosen to do this through advancing the arts my high school, Cresset Christian Academy.

Often, Boy Scouts is considered an outdoor experience, but in truth it is a leadership development experience, be it indoors or out. Through the advancement of the arts, specifically the improvement of the theatrical lighting system used by the local K‐12 school Cresset Christian Academy, young people are able to practice and learn skills that can lead them into careers, ministries, or hobbies they might otherwise never discover.

My goal for this project, which includes green energy lighting fixtures, improved safety hanging and wiring, as well as the newest technology application in lighting control, is to enable young people the experience of learning in a dynamic environment while providing the community with an exceptional entertainment venue. In order to meet this goal, I will obtain and make use of a team of ten labor volunteers to install the system, three A/V expert volunteers to design the lighting and oversee the technology aspects of the system, and $30,000 in funds and matching gifts to purchase the needed supplies. I am currently well on my way to my goal, but need your help.  So far, I have more than enough labor volunteers, all three A/V professionals and almost a third of the funding.  Donations of any amount are greatly appreciated so we can make this lighting system match the award winning acting and directing of the school productions.
