(A CRY FOR JUSTICE FROM THE GRAVE)
Hello, my name is Michael Robinson. I am a 33 year old Father of 3 beautiful angels all still in the adolescent years.
My life and the lives of my children and family forever changed on August 14, 2015. I was arrested for having back child support which I have been doing my best to get current on. (Please keep reading as this is not what your mind may already be thinking as many stereotypes and judgement exist.)
It's hard to stay current when things like a failing economy, lack of employment opportunities or layoffs occur. And once someone gets $2500 behind, our MO Drivers License is suspended.
I have now paid the ultimate price. I LOST MY LIFE in the Pemiscot County Jail. They were well aware I am a severe DIABETIC and required insulin shots at least 2 times a day, sometimes more. My family even called in requesting that I get proper medical treatment as they knew how serious my illness is, well was. I know the feeling all to well when my body is in need of insulin. The fatigue, heaviness and the overall feeling of being ill.
I was denied all persons rights to receive medical attention and care. I sat in a small lonely jail cell feeling my body shut down and asked for assistance.
They instead ignored my plea for help and I can't say 100 percent of why they did this to me and my family. Was they judging me for being a father behind on child support? Was they spectating that I was using my severe illness as some excuse?
The only way that my children and family will ever have any answers is to seek justice. This can not continue to happen. Police are to protect and serve, not neglect and deny service needed.
I leave this world at such a young age of 33. I had so much I wanted to do. I wanted to not only support my children financially, I wanted to teach them about life experiences during all their special ages. From toddler to young child, preteen to the amazing Sweet 16 birthdays. To be there as they received their diploma and to walk the journey of life with them. I now have to leave that to my family because of injustice. I pray no other diabetic or any other person needing medicines who are held in jails, without the ability to care for their own self, ever suffer what I did.
I also leave my family with the unexpected expenses of my funeral services.
From the grave, I ask that you please help people like me and Sandra Bland fight for a change. She told them she was epileptic & was denied medical intervention
That was written on behalf of Michael by me, Antonio. I am his brother and I can never find the words to share what we are all feeling and what my brother must have been thinking or feeling throughout his body as he was denied all human rights and care.
Our family plans to fight for answers and justice. We also want to make sure his story changes the lives of anyone who is denied medicines needed to maintain care and stay alive while detained for whatever reason.
My brother lost his life because he was denied his insulin while being held for NO Criminal Activity! Now he will never have the chance and we want answers.
We face so many expenses and have a long journey ahead of us to get this story out and help make changes to our legal system.
Anything contributed will be appreciated and forever thankful.
