Furnal Equinox Video Streams!
Help me bring live video streaming to Furnal Equinox!
I am the technical director for Furnal Equinox, a furry convention in Toronto, Canada. Ever since I started volunteering for this convention a repeat request has been to show our events as a live video stream on the Internet for those attendees who can't make it to our convention, or for those who want to see what our convention is like.
In order to make this dream a reality, I need your help to push us over the top of the hill by helping fund it. We need $1200 for the core video switcher itself, and help cover other costs. If funded, Furnal Equinox will then be able to provide live streaming events on a continual basis in the future.
Never have the stars been aligned 'just right' for me to bring proper video streaming to our convention for everyone to enjoy both the live production, and online stream. The majority of the equipment is already available to the convention, our live events setup is continuing to grow, and our programming team continues to improve the attendee experience.
The $1200 goal is to make the live stream a reality - it allows us to purchase the Blackmagic Design ATEM television studio. Any additional funding above that helps cover the cost to add a fourth camera to the entire setup.
Questions and Risks:
- What if the funding campaign does not meet its goal in full?
-- Every dollar counts, if most of the cost is funded, I can absorb the difference. I have already budgeted a significant amount of personal funds towards the project and if not funded completely a smaller version can be executed on.
- What happens if there are technical setbacks?
-- Based on years of project management professionally, as well as for the convention combined with a previous career in event production I have all the skills required to make this happen if funded.
- Could you not just stream video in a cheaper manner?
-- We could, but part of my role as technical director is not only to make the technical aspects of the event a reality, but also to produce the overall experience. We could do it with a single webcam, but the people want a good show and experience worth watching. Help us bring the live video stream to all those who can't make it out to this great convention and watch the amazing performers.
