The Story

Kidbig: Earth's Galactic Hero takes place in the distant future on Earth, where the creation of the Ion Prime Battery has permanently solved the energy crisis. Unfortunately, this breakthrough unwittingly causes another threat. The Mechnons, intergalactic conquerors from an unknown galaxy are liberated from their millennia-long imprisonment by the subsequent activation of the Ion Prime Battery and set their sights on Earth to steal it for their plans of revenge and domination. In response to the conquerors’ awakening, the Soul Core, an ancient dormant artifact once used to defeat the Mechnons, now stored away in a lab on Earth activates in the hands of William, a twelve year-old boy who decides on curious impulse to take it from his scientist mother’s work space. Instead of becoming the ultimate weapon it once was, the Soul Core inadvertently takes on the sentient form of a goofy, fun-loving, pre-teen boy with William’s likeness and love for comic books – enter KidBig! With the guidance of William and his friends Alexander and Sandy, KidBig must organically regain his legendary potential and learn what it means to be a hero in order to defeat the Mechnons before time runs out for Earth!

 
What Makes it Different

 

What makes the show unique is that KidBig doesn’t have it all figured out – he’s gone from a static position of ultimate power to a dynamic position of trial-and-error learning, a position he tenuously holds from day to day with the help of his friends, who play a major role in helping KidBig to make the right choices. We get to see, through the lens of preteens what it takes to manage critical choices and to courageously deal with them in real time alongside the greater impression that individual choices do, in fact, impact the world. Teamwork, family, and identity are just some of the themes, which will be just as engrossing as the action, the show will explore. The cast of characters, both male and female are inclusive to many different cultures, are NOT stereotypes and in some cases, bypass traditional gender conventions.

 

How It All Started

 

KidBig began as a project assignment for my 2D animation course in college. For the next decade, I focused on research and development to ensure the idea I started then would be something fresh, something that hasn't been done in the entertainment industry before. Part of that process has been to assemble a team of writers, sculpture, environment and character artists that spans across the country and the globe, from New Jersey by way of Korea to Singapore to Australia.

1) Offsetting the cost to trademark/copyright/establish a business for the project

2) Creating an awesome, high-quality website that will serve as the hub for the world of KidBig; updates on the creative team, the show itself and interactive components as well as regular content

3) Producing high-quality marketing tools (posters, digital advertisements, short animated clips) to increase awareness for the show and establish tangible collateral (re: branding) for the project – (wink-wink to the Comic Con community)

4) Commissioning expertly-crafted figurines/sculptures as well as key pendants, buttons, mugs, mechanical pencils, notebooks
