Tami's Mini-Vaca in the Hospital
Donation protected
Update: Just got another statement from the hospital and apparently insurance won't be adjusting its payment. Hospital
My name is Tami and I have multiple heart conditions. Long story short I had an AICD to keep my heart rate up. I am usually at 42 without any "help". In June one of my wires for the device broke. You would think a little thing like stretching your arm wouldn't be a big deal, apparently it was. After a night of beeping I was told I had to have my husband drive me to the hospital an hour and a half away. On the 14th I was admitted and xray confirmed my wire broke. The doctor, hubby, and I decided it was time to upgrade to an ICD. By the time the 18th came around and I could have the surgery my heart 40 in the day time and dropping down to as low as 28 when I slept. That was my first experience with lasers, so glad I was unconscious.
This goal is just for doctor's bills which thanks to God was in network. However this has been a hard year for my family and I am having a hard time paying them. I am a stay at home to a beautiful 7 year old daughter (in picture with me) and a rambuncious 4 year old boy while my Husband works 2 1/2 jobs. I have a love for my 3 dogs and my quite little place in the country. Any donations would be gratefully accepted and truly appreciated.
I wanted to list the bills from this little "vacation":
Doctor portion: $3,015 (Originally $3,093.75) - all but $155 of this is now in collections because of the way they do there billing. Talked to a very nice lady in billing and she told we would not be sent to court if we kept sending $20 a month.
Anesthesiologists: PAID!! $540 (Originally $648.05) - these people are being amazing and are much more laid back than last time I dealt with them. After 2 months of payments in the same amount, set up a payment plan. New balance is $220 thanks to donations!
Hospital portion: $147,626.41 (Originally $147,681.41) - just recieved a letter from my insurance stating they had received a letter where the hospital is questioning/fighting the amount they paid.
Born with 2 holes in my heart and a pulmonary valve that was way too small and now have Congestive Heart Failure among other heart problems. 1983 - open heart surgery to patch my holes and surgery to "fix" my pulmonary valve. All things went somewhat smoothly until 2005 - open heart surgery to replace my patched pulmonary valve with a bovine one. 2008 - one evening my heart raced up to 220 beats per minute and stayed there for 3 hours, I was lucky and the sticker shock oads brought me back to my then 3 month old daughter. It also resulted in a heart rate way to low and an AICD (pacemaker/defibrillator). 2012- I had a swap out, my AICD battery was almost dead. Also when doctors finally came out and said I had heart failure. 2014- when I stretched to far and broke my wire and surgery to replace wire and change to an ICD.
